New local FinTech association from IFC

The Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Centre has announced the formation of a volunteer group organisation, the FinTech Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

FinTech T&T is to be a non-profit organisation with the mission to “help transform Trinidad and Tobago into a leading regional FinTech hub.”

According to a notice on the IFC website…

Membership will be open to promising FinTech start-ups, individuals involved in FinTech activities, financial services providers and tech companies. FinTech T&T will work closely with Government and regulators to advocate for the adoption of global standards in the local FinTech sector.

Among the organisation’s goals will be a mission to “Advocate for effective regulation that will support the development of financial solutions and attract investment in the local FinTech sector.”
