CANTO has pledged to support Huawei and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in Mexico in the below detailed initiative. Huawei and the Minister of Foreign Affairs (SRE) are calling for women across the Caribbean region to apply for the “1000 Talented Women” program, which seeks to promote female digital development and reduce the digital divide and gender gap in the region.
In the implementation of this program, Huawei will award one thousand scholarships with a value of more than $200,000 USD so that participants can partake of its offer of technologies certifications, such as the Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) International Certification.
Fourteen Caribbean countries are included in the call for the programme; these are – Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago.
Thirty scholarships for women students, professionals, or academics will be available to each country.
Please feel free to share the information amongst your direct networks. We would also be very appreciative if you can share via social media and/or via website publications (if done, kindly share the links with us so we can advise the Mexican Embassies of your assistance.)
The call for applications, which will be open until November 11, 2021, is geared to women who have training or knowledge of physics-mathematical sciences, or ICT related engineering programs. The trainings will be conducted entirely online, in periods ranging from 6 to 20 hours, and will be taught in English.
In addition, Huawei will provide vouchers to take the HCIA level exams in the selected certification, as well as the platforms and the necessary training materials.
Candidates must apply by November 11, 2021 through the call for applications. Register here.
