December in the Caribbean signals the end of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, and while hurricanes are not the be all and end all of disasters, in the region it does form a big part of disaster planning. So, with that in mind, Digicel Business welcomes Digicel’s Global Business Continuity Management Team Chairperson, Nikima Royer Jno Baptiste, to talk disaster recovery and business continuity management for Ahead of the Curve Business Webinar on Thursday, December 16th.

In 2021 alone, the region has experienced man-made and natural disasters (like hurricanes, earthquakes, a volcanic eruption, and, of course, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic), and through it all, Nikima has led the charge, making sure that all of Digicel’s 32 markets have a solid crisis response in place to ensure business continuity no matter the situation.

Liam Donnelly, Digicel Group Chief Business Officer said, “This month’s webinar is all about how to become a more resilient business and protect your bottom line. Nikima was the CEO of Digicel Dominica in 2017 when they faced Hurricane Maria and its aftermath, and she knows all about championing a business through disaster and building back better after. In this interview, she’ll share the importance of implementing an effective disaster recovery framework so that businesses can withstand challenges and ensure business continuity. And this session will empower business to plan their disaster recovery strategy for 2022 and beyond.”

Now, what does disaster recovery actually entail? Well, in the context of any business, it’s all about enabling the recovery or continuation of a business in the event of a disaster. And in the case of Digicel, and many other companies/industries that are essential in times of crisis, business continuity is not just important for the bottom line, but also ensures the health and safety of the public.

With this session, Nikima is going to take viewers through things like risk management and business resiliency, as well as demonstrate how to easily and effectively implement plans to safeguard any business.

The Ahead of the Curve series is all about bringing the best of the best straight to our business audience and over the next few months, the webinar series will explore digital transformations, social media and a number of other important topics that are pivotal to businesses today.

Designed especially for business decision makers and influencers, the sessions will be most beneficial to entrepreneurs, information technology/security directors and managers, CEO/CFOs, and infrastructure, operations and digital transformation senior level professionals, the Ahead of the Curve series features candid conversations with solutions experts and business authorities across the region.
