Digicel delivers telephony to Jamaica’s ‘The Business District’

2 Mins read

The Business District is Jamaica’s first private serviced office complex. Renting fully-furnished offices – physical and virtual – as specified by its clients, these can range from overseas companies looking to set up an international branch, companies running short-term projects, businesses that are downsizing or transitioning to start-ups and home-based operations. It offers affordable packages which include assignment of a unique telephone number and call answering service and clients also have access to a receptionist, a business address, a fax number – everything that a business would need to start and operate an enterprise.

The Challenge

As a company providing a wide range of technological services to their clients’ businesses, The Business District required a solution capable of supporting multi-tenancy. Also, The Business District had limited human and financial resources to invest; therefore, it needed a solution that required minimal capital outlay and low upkeep.

The Solution

Digicel Business provided The Business District with a converged network consisting of a cloud telephony solution which supports up to 31 seats and three operators. The feature-rich solution comes with a wide range of capabilities that make it scalable and customisable. As it was an entirely new implementation, Digicel Business also provided cabling and networking infrastructure, as well as telephones. In addition, The Business District has access to support from Digicel’s Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Minimal Capital Outlay and Scalability

With the business’ limited capital in mind, Digicel Business not only hosts all the back-end equipment needed to manage the solution but also provides all the end-user devices. Unlike a conventional PBX system, the Digicel Business solution is very easy to scale compared to the option of purchasing an entirely new solution. When additional lines are needed for new clients, the company simply requests and pays to increase the number of lines.

Cost saving

The cloud telephony solution requires no capital investment up-front and includes all the hardware needed for maximum functionality. As the solution is cloud-based, there is no need to purchase or pay for maintenance of expensive physical components – as this is all managed by Digicel Business. Managing Director of The Business District, Maria Jones said; “We operate a serviced office business where we rent both physical and virtual offices that come fully-equipped with telephones, internet, utilities and all administrative services for all types of business.”

“Thanks to Digicel Business we can now offer our clients a state-of-the-art cloud-based telephony solution that is not only reasonably priced but also flexible enough to meet their needs.”
