Webcams gone wild

The Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS) has posted a warning about unsecured webcams and IP cameras whose transmissions are viewable on the public Internet.

The output of these webcams is being collected and offered for viewing on a website, Insecam, and the TTCS warns…

“Currently, the “odd site” lists 51 cameras from Trinidad and Tobago, viewable to anyone over the Internet.”

That’s quite a bit less than the US, which currently sports more than 11,000 such devices. The Society offers tips in the post on how to change the default password for your webcam and to secure it.
