Focusing on high-risk patients with chronic diseases, medl is a mobile application offering quick prescription medication delivery services. The company provides a user-friendly platform where patients can access and order prescriptions, driven by their own healthcare institutions, insurers and clinicians. Up to date, medl has worked with 120+ doctors and is working with the more than 340,000 members of affiliate insurers to manage their prescriptions, helping to alleviate the impact generated by the virus in Trinidad and Tobago to those most at risk.

Microsoft is committed to the Caribbean region, driving innovation and supporting local efforts against Covid-19, and has therefore selected medl as the first company in Trinidad & Tobago to receive up to US$120,000.00 in support and cloud credits as part of the Microsoft for Startups programme. medl will utilize Microsoft’s Azure technology to improve data analytics for their healthcare and pharmaceutical providers, accelerate new patient registrations and optimize tracking features.

Darren Mohammed, Senior Manager and Country Representative for Microsoft in Trinidad and Tobago said “Being the first Microsoft for Startups local company, we are proud to be able to support medl in accelerating its digital transformation and improving their offering performance, through Azure and our program. By doing so, we will also positively impact Trinidad & Tobago’s health industry during a crucial time.”

medl was launched in 2021, with the support of an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) grant of US$150,000 to accelerate the company’s development. “IDB Lab is proud to finance medl as one of the recent innovative start-up startups in the Caribbean that is providing an essential service to support greater medicinal compliance, assistance with navigating and managing prescribed medications and efficient and cost-effective fulfillment of prescriptions,” said Vashtie Dookiesingh- Private Finance Operations Senior Specialist, IDB Lab.

According to one of medl’s patients, Alicia H., “medl took a necessary task and made it immeasurably easier. My pharmacist is amazing, providing a detailed follow up after the medication is delivered. The medl app is also incredibly easy to use…this is an incredibly invaluable service and I hope that as time goes on, more persons jump on board with the service.”
