The US Commerce Department has issued another 45 day temporary general license to Huawei.
It is the fifth such license extension granted to the Chinese manufacturer since it was placed on the Entity List in May 2019.
The extension allows Huawei to continue trading with US companies for the duration of the extension.
The duration has been cut in half and Congress has authorised to reimburse carriers with less than two million customers to replace equipment from who replace equipment purchased from Huawei and ZTE.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro ship with Android 10 and the company’s EMUI interface but are not preloaded with Google’s apps. The forthcoming P40 and P40 Pro are likely to ship on the same basis.
Neither phone is officially available in the US or Europe.
