Never lose a call again due to a dead mobile device battery. Technology giant Huawei globally launched the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 – a smartphone that can solve a long-standing challenge for mobile users: battery life.

Continuing on Huawei’s track record of delivering high-end devices reflecting features that global consumers want, the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone boasts significantly enhanced power, efficiency and battery life.

Equipped with a 4000mAh high-density battery, the Mate 8 delivers industry-leading power efficiency offering over two days of normal usage. Rapid charging technology allows users to get a day’s worth of charge for the device in just 30 minutes. In fact, regular users can go without charging their phone for 2.36 days, and heavy users can go without charging for 1.65 days.

Also contributing to the superior battery life is the Mate 8’s lower power consumption, thanks to its advanced six-layer thermal mechanics which allows greater heat dissipation.

Featuring the most powerful chipset, a high-capacity battery and stylish design – including a unique mocha brown color option – the Huawei Mate 8 is the ideal smartphone for today’s on-the-go professional. The Mate 8 is designed from the ground-up for productivity and its hardware and software have been fine-tuned to provide an elegant, efficient experience.

“With the Mate 8, we have delivered a device that meets the needs of a new style of business. With this fast, impeccably designed smartphone, users can work more efficiently and free up valuable time to spend with friends, family and on personal pursuits,” said Kevin Ho, President, Handset Business, Huawei Consumer BG. “The Mate 8 is the ultimate high-end smartphone. It strikes the perfect balance between high performance and long battery life, enabling people to stay connected and be more productive in every facet of their lives.”

The Huawei Mate 8 will be initially available in 30 countries including: Spain, Germany, France, United Arab Emirates, Mexico and Australia. The device will cost 599 euros for 3GB +32GB and 699 euros for 4GB + 64GB. It is available in four elegant colors: champagne gold, moonlight silver, space gray and mocha brown.

While the Mate 8 is not yet available to consumers in T&T, this launch follows Huawei’s high-end Mate S, globally launched in Berlin last September, which hit the T&T market in December 2015.

As with many other Huawei smartphones, the compactly designed Mate S also has superior battery life, and boasts several revolutionary features, including knuckle control (open apps using the knuckle on the screen – e.g. draw the letter “C” on the screen to access the camera), fingerprint recognition technology which allows users to unlock the phone, answer calls and take photos with the touch of one fingerprint on the phone’s sensor.

The Mate S is currently available at all TSTT outlets and is priced at TT$4199 for pre-paid customers, and range from TT$599 – TT$4199 for post-paid customers, depending on their activation plan.

A range of other mid-to high-end Huawei devices are also available in the local market, including the Huawei Mate 7 (More than 7 million Mate 7 smartphones were shipped in 2015, while the device won “BEST of IFA 2014” and received awards from Android Authority, GSM Arena, and Tom’s Guide); the Huawei P8 (global shipments of the P8 reached 4.5 million in 2015); the G7 and the budget-friendly Y330.
