Huawei listed in Fast Company’s Top 50

1 Mins read

Global ICT company Huawei has been recognised by business media, Fast Company, for “taking the upper hand in the  global mobile competition”. The media house listed Huawei in its Top 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2016, citing the company as one of the “remarkable organisations that are truly disrupting business-as-usual across the world”.

The list comprises the top 50 companies in entertainment, sports and technology, to name a few industries. Huawei has been ranked No 13 in the list of 50, among the likes of other technology giants like Facebook, Amazon, Uber and Apple.

According to Fast Company:

“Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (often stylized as Huawei) is a Chinese telecommunications company that makes its own smartphones. Founded in 1987 in Shenzhen, China, Huawei could be called an overnight success story–but it’s not…. Since launching its first Huawei-branded phone in 2010, the company has grown into a behemoth, ranking only third (behind Apple and Samsung) in global smartphone sales. With its Mate and Honor smartphone brands, Huawei hopes to capitalize on the trend of consumers moving from mid-tier to high-end handsets. The company credits much of its success to its dedication to technology: Huawei employs 75,000 engineers and invests no less than 10% of its annual revenue in R&D.”

Huawei smartphone devices are available in Trinidad, including the globally popular and award winning Mate brand.  It’s not the first time Huawei has been listed, having also received this prestigious recognition in both 2010 and 2011.
