Digicel Barbados today announced Yaser Maher as its new Chief Executive Officer. This appointment comes on the heels of the former CEO, Alex Tasker, being appointed to the role of Executive Chairman of Digicel Barbados in October of last year.

Yaser is no stranger to the Digicel family having joined the Barbados team from Digicel Vanuatu in the Pacific where he was Chairman and CEO from June 2015. Prior to that, he was Chairman and CEO of Beeline in Laos, which is part of Veon, one of the world’s largest integrated telecommunications services operators.

With a long track record of experience in mainly commercial roles largely in the telecommunications industry, Yaser has also held senior positions with Vodafone in Egypt and Italy, Etisalat in Saudi Arabia and Orascom Telecom Holding.

Commenting on his new appointment, incoming CEO for Digicel Barbados, Yaser Maher said, ‘I’m thrilled to be joining the Digicel Barbados team. In my new role, I am committed to building on the good work the team has delivered and to continuing our focus on providing great value and improved service to consumers and businesses across Barbados.”

In welcoming Yaser to his new role, Digicel Group Chief Executive, Jean-Yves Charlier, commented; “Yaser’s broad experience leading communications providers in diverse locations across the globe will be invaluable in ensuring that our customers in Barbados benefit from being with Digicel and get the very best digital experience.”
