This is an exciting evening for Huawei in Trinidad and Tobago,” said Jason Deng, General Manager for Huawei in Trinidad and Tobago.

“This is the first time we have officially launched our smartphone devices in this country. And we are equally excited to partner with our long-time strategic partner, TSTT, through their Blink-Bmobile brand to bring our device to the T&T customer.”

“Huawei smartphones have been very popular globally; in fact, global brand awareness of Huawei jumped to 65 percent in 2014, from 26 percent in 2012. Huawei devices have become the third most popular brand around the world.”

“Our smartphone sales globally have been extraordinary: we sold over 75 million units of our devices globally and saw an increase in sales of 45 percent from last year.We have also seen success in our Caribbean and Latin American markets. So now, after almost a decade of operating in T&T, Huawei wants to share that same success here.”

“We have noted that smartphone purchases have gone up in T&T in just four short years. In 2010 there were 63,000 in the market. By 2014, it went up to 264,000”

According to Nicole Kerry Lum Kin, EVP, Mobile Services (Ag), TSTT has enjoyed a rewarding partnership with Huawei since 2012 when the company introduced its 4G service, built on infrastructure from the Chinese company. Bmobile will offer four models of the smartphones on the local market.
